Description
The Pilot 743 FA Replacement feed is used to improve performance of the size 15 FA nib when flex writing. The stock feed does not provide sufficient ink for calligraphy styles such as copperplate, as Japanese writing does not flex the nib as dramatically as does a style like copperplate.
The 743 replacement feed is available in four versions:
- 743E This black ebonite feed has a 3 slit ink slot, and is meant for use with dry inks, or for users who prefer a wet nib (on right, below).
- 743ER This red ebonite feed has a 3 slit ink slot, and is meant for use with dry inks, or for users who prefer a wet nib. The design is identical to 743E, but in red ebonite.
- 743EN This black ebonite feed has a 2 slit ink slot, for use with normal inks (on left, below).
- 743ENR This red ebonite feed has a 2 slit ink slot, for use with normal inks. This design is identical to the 743EN, but in red ebonite.
The 743 series of feeds also works well in the Pilot 823 pen. Some users have had success with other nibs than the FA, but we have not tested other types of nibs ourselves.
Additional versions in clear acrylic, will be offered in the future.
This feed does not fit the size 10 FA nibs used in the Pilot Custom 742 and 912. We will offer a size 10 FA replacement feed shortly.
