J3776EC JoWo #6 Housing for Platinum 3776 Nib and Feed

Description

J3776EC JoWo #6 housing allows use of a Platinum 3776 nib and feed into fountain pens that use a JoWo #6 nib assembly. This housing has a nipple for a Platinum cartridge converter.

Manufactured in the USA by Flexible Nib Factory LLC from black ebonite from Nikko (Japan).

Platinum 3776 nib and feed not included. Platinum Converter not included.

Does not fit the Platinum 3776 Music Nib.

NOTE: THIS HOUSING WILL NOT FIT MOST JOWO #6 PENS AS THE PLATINUM CONVERTER IS PROBABLY TOO LARGE. IT IS MEANT FOR CUSTOM MADE PENS THAT USE JOWO #6 THREADING AND HAVE BODIES LARGE ENOUGH TO CONTAIN A PLATINUM CONVERTER.

Installation Instructions

Remove the feed and nib from your Platinum 3776 pen:

• Empty your pen of ink in your usual way and rinse out the residue.
• Before removing the nib and feed, note the position of the nib in the section. You will want to have the nib and feed fit similarly in the J3776E housing.
• Grasp the nib and feed, at the base only, keeping your fingers off the tines and tip of the nib, and pull them straight out of the pen. If the nib and feed can’t be easily removed, soak the nib and feed in a dilute household ammonia solution for a few hours, and this should allow you to remove the nib and feed from the housing. As a last resort, the nib and feed can be removed using a nib block and punch, but this method should not be necessary unless the pen has been allowed to dry with ink inside.

Here is a wonderful video by the great YouTuber sbrebrown (no relation to Flexible Nib Factory LLC) on disassembly of a Platinum 3776 pen. The removal of nib and feed start at 1:49 into the video. Normally, I have found it doesn’t take much force to remove it, and on the two pens loaned to me, I was able to easily remove and replace the nibs with my bare fingers. The most important point is to not twist as you pull, and KEEP YOUR FINGERS OFF THE TIP AND TINES.

To install the Platinum 3776 nib and feed into the J3776EC housing:

• Place the Platinum 3776 nib on the feed so it fits securely and snugly.
• Without twisting, and keeping your fingers only on the base of the nib and feed, insert the nib and feed fully into the housing. The markings on the nib should be aligned as they were when the nib and feed were installed into your Platinum 3776 pen’s section.
• Note that the end of the Platinum feed will extend outside the housing by 0.070″ (1.8mm).
