Installation Instructions

Remove the feed and nib from your Pilot Falcon pen:

  • Empty your pen of ink in your usual way and rinse out the residue.
  • Before removing the nib and feed, note the position of the nib in the section. You will want to have the nib and feed fit similarly in the BPFALE housing.
  • Grasp the nib and feed, at the base only, keeping your fingers off the tines and tip of the nib, and pull them straight out of the pen. If the nib and feed can’t be easily removed, soak the nib and feed in a dilute household ammonia solution for a few hours, and this should allow you to remove the nib and feed from the housing. As a last resort, the nib and feed can be removed using a nib block and punch, but this method should not be necessary unless the pen has been allowed to dry with ink inside.

To install the Pilot Falcon nib and feed into the BPFALE housing:

  • Place the Pilot Falcon nib on the feed so it fits securely and snugly into the slots on the end of the feed.
  • Without twisting, and keeping your fingers only on the base of the nib and feed, insert the nib and feed fully into the housing. The markings on the nib should be aligned as they were when the nib and feed were installed into your Pilot Falcon pen’s section.
  • Remove the nib assembly from your Conid fountain pen by rotating the nib assembly counter clockwise.
  • Install the BPFALE nib assembly by screwing it into your pen. Do not over tighten.
  • Ink your pen and enjoy.

If you re-install your Falcon nib and feed back into your Pilot Falcon pen, note that this pen’s section is keyed, so make sure you fit the nib into the keyed part of the section correctly.
