B8EX-H Housing for Bock 380 Nib and Feed

Description

The B8EX-H housing allows use of Bock 380 nib and feed into pens like the Conid Kingsize fountain pen that use a non-converter Bock 380 (#8) nib assembly.

Manufactured in the USA by Flexible Nib Factory LLC from black ebonite from Nikko (Japan).

Bock 380 nib and feed not included.

Installation Instructions

Remove the Bock 380 feed and nib from your pen:

• Empty your pen of ink in your usual way and rinse out the residue.
• Unscrew the nib assembly counterclockwise to remove it fro the pen.
• After removing the nib assembly from the pen, grasp the nib and feed, at the base only, keeping your fingers off the tines and tip of the nib, and pull them straight out of the housing. If the nib and feed can’t be easily removed, soak the nib and feed in a dilute household ammonia solution for a few hours, and this should allow you to remove the nib and feed from the housing. As a last resort, the nib and feed can be removed using a nib block and punch, but this method should not be necessary unless the pen has been allowed to dry with ink inside. If you do use a nib block and punch, be very gentle, as the end of the feed is quite small, and excessive force can damage the end of the feed.

To install the Bock 380 nib and feed into the B8EX-H housing:

• Place the  nib on the feed. Position the nib so that the tip of the nib extends about 4-5mm (0.16″ to 0.2″) from the end of the feed.
• Without twisting, and keeping your fingers only on the base of the nib and feed, insert the nib and feed fully into the housing. Make sure the nib is centered on the feed. If the nib is still centered on the feed, the nib assembly is now ready to install into your pen.
• Screw this assembly into your pen clockwise. Do not over tighten. Fill your pen with ink and enjoy.

Note that the dimensions of this housing are slightly different than the standard Bock 380 housing and matches the dimensions of the Conid Kingsize nib assembly. Unlike the Conid housing, this housing is not keyed, so the nib can be turned to the most pleasing position in the pen.
