Description
B743E Bock 250 housing allows use of a Pilot 743 or 823 size 15 nib and feed into Conid fountain pens that use Bock #6 nibs. For those that have purchased our 743 FA replacement feeds, these may be used with the FA nib in this housing. Other pens that use a non-converter Bock 250 housing may be used also.
Manufactured in the USA by Flexible Nib Factory LLC from black ebonite from Nikko (Japan).
Pilot 743 nib and feed not included.
Installation Instructions
Remove the feed and nib from your Pilot 743 or Pilot 823 pen:
- Empty your pen of ink in your usual way and rinse out the residue.
- Before removing the nib and feed, note the position of the nib in the section. You will want to have the nib and feed fit similarly in the B743E housing.
- Grasp the nib and feed, at the base only, keeping your fingers off the tines and tip of the nib, and pull them straight out of the pen. If the nib and feed can’t be easily removed, soak the nib and feed in a dilute household ammonia solution for a few hours, and this should allow you to remove the nib and feed from the housing. As a last resort, the nib and feed can be removed using a nib block and punch, but this method should not be necessary unless the pen has been allowed to dry with ink inside.
Note that the section of a Pilot 743 or 823 pen has a white plastic o-ring or seal inside. Do not use this seal with the B743E housing; it is unnecessary, as the design accommodates this function intrinsically, as the housing is made of black ebonite. If the seal comes out when you remove the nib and feed from your Pilot pen’s section, return it to the housing by placing it on the end of the feed and pressing it back into the section.
To install the Pilot 743 nib and feed into the B743E housing:
- Place the Pilot 743 nib on the feed so it fits securely and snugly into the slots on the end of the feed.
- Without twisting, and keeping your fingers only on the base of the nib and feed, insert the nib and feed fully into the housing. The markings on the nib should be aligned as they were when the nib and feed were installed into your Pilot 743 or 823 pen’s section.
- Remove the nib assembly from your Conid fountain pen by rotating the nib assembly counter clockwise.
- Install the B743E nib assembly by screwing it into your pen. Do not over tighten.
- Ink your pen and enjoy.
